Anyway, I just thought I'd post a couple 3D objects so the girls have something to look at when they're practicing. We've done 3D objects for weeks now, but I can't stress enough the importance of practicing drawing real objects from different angles.
Emphasize the importance of recognizing that these objects as a whole are made up of more basic shapes when you look at them from one angle. We talked about this in class, so the girls shouldn't have too hard a time with this concept.

2. The bottom of the ear-lobes are on the same level as the bottom of the nose.
3. The top of the ears are on the same level as the edge of the eyebrows.
4. The distance between the eyes is the same as the width of one eye.
Note: Don't draw your necks too skinny.
More tips will be added later, but use these four main ones as you draw your faces.
Some of the parts of the eye we talked about in class were:
1. The eyeball
2. The eyelids
3. Tear ducts
4. The iris
5. The pupil

Today in class we discussed a couple of fun color schemes! Triadic and Split Complementary! It is important that we are familiar with all of the standard schemes in order to plan our colors effectively.
Homework: Study the color schemes on the webpage linked below. Make sure you know ALL of the color schemes by next week and how to find them on the color wheel.

Welcome to the blog that I have created for the Basement Art Class. Here is where you will find details on homework, things we are discussing in class, and featured art peices from both girls in the class.
♥Instead of sending the girls home with little slips of paper that are easily lost, I will post assignments that are to be completed at home here with details and suggestions.
♥I will also post mini-lessons so that the girls may review what we discussed in class.
Hopefully this will be a helpful tool and functional in the next week or so.
Thanks for letting the girls come to Art Class!!
